Spring is finally springing and it’s time to hit refresh on your self care routine. If you’ve fallen off on yourself care it’s okay because (girl, same) Spring is the perfect season to start showing yourself some love again.
Here are 9 Spring Self Care Ideas to Help You Refresh.
The winter months can be challenging, and sometimes we’re just focused on hybernating, binging our favorite Netflix shows, and surviving the cold. It can be difficult to maintain a self-care routine if you experience seasonal depression or generally lose motivation when the sun is gone. Something about Spring just feels like a new beginning, and like new opportunities are on the horizon.
Let’s try a little Spring Self Care Challenge and commit to as many items on this list as we can this season.
9 Spring Self Care Ideas
1. Spring Cleaning
I know what you’re thinking “Spring cleaning for Spring?… groundbreaking” but how many of us actually do this? It seems like one of those tasks that feel so good when you accomplish yet and yet it rarely actually makes the to-do list. Spring cleaning can definitely feel daunting if you have a lot of areas in your home that need it. Try committing to just one area, maybe a closet or even just a drawer. What’s one area of your home or office that you can declutter this season?
2. Brain Dump Journal Entry
A brain dump is a great journal technique to use at the start of Spring. Spring is all about renewal and clearing out old energy. To practice brain dumping all you need to do is write down every single thought that pops into your head without editing yourself. Keep the pen flowing for as long as you need to clear out every thought that’s taking up space in your brain. This is a fantastic way to clear out the clutter of your mind and make space for new and expansive ways of thinking.
3. Gift Yourself a Spa Day Refresh
We’re all feeling a little dried up from winter. We haven’t seen the sun in months, our skin is dry and let’s not even talk about the toes that have been in hiding. Spring is the perfect time to gift yourself a trip to the spa so you can leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. If you can’t do a whole spa day pick your favorite service (I love a manicure because of the unreal hand massages).
4. Buy Yourself Flowers
Miley really popped off with this spring anthem (and for my event girlies, can you believe what this song has done for florists?!). There’s something so nice about receiving flowers, they always make you feel like someone special. But here’s the tea… you don’t need someone special in your life to get them for you, you can gift them to your damn self! When you practice self love you set the standard for the type of love you’re willing to receive.
5. Hot Girl Walks
It may be short king spring but hot girl summer is just a few short months away. With the sun slowly making an appearance and the greenery coming back to life it’s time to get outside! Even just a short 15-minute outdoor walk per day will energize your spirit and get things flowing again. If you primarily work from home as I do then your hips must be screaming for a hot girl walk. Get them joints lubricated honey!
6. Gratitude List
Practicing gratitude is a fun way to boost your mood and start to appreciate and enjoy your life in the present moment. It’s easy to get caught up in our future goals and forget to be grateful for what’s already here. Write down a list of everything you currently have in your life to be grateful for. This doesn’t need to be material objects, it can be relationships and even new perspectives or mindset shifts. Whenever you’re having a low moment this season you can look back at your gratitude list and remember what you’re thankful for.
7. Refresh Spring wardrobe
Again this seems like one of those things we always want to do but never get around to. If you have the means why not treat yourself to a mini wardrobe refresh this season? Spring is such a fun season to explore your personal style. Try and shop based on the weather and not seasonal trends so you have more timeless pieces.
8. Digital detox
This might feel counterintuitive to some people. Spring means better weather which means more leaving the house which equates to more social media use, right? Maybe that’s exactly why you need to schedule breaks. I once took an entire month off of social media and it was one of the best months I had in a really long time. It can become difficult to decipher our own opinions from the ones that are forced upon us on social media. We can also get trapped in the comparison game or a toxic doom scroll. Taking a digital detox will not only boost your mood but it’ll create space for creative freedom and inspiration. Maybe set a rule where you take 1-2 days off from social media per week this season and see where it leads you.
9. Create a Spring Essential Oil Diffuser Blend
When I think of Spring I think of the smell of a cool yet sunny morning breeze, fresh flowers, and maybe citrus. Scent is a powerful way to spark nostalgia and good feeling memories, it can also add warmth and freshness to your home. Try blending some spring essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, bergamot, or grapefruit!
If you’ve fallen off a routine this winter it’s okay. Now is a perfect time as any to start practicing self care! I hope you were able to find something on this list that resonated with you.
