Every day, a new spiritual guru pops up online and the manifestation myths run rampant. There is so much information out there, and it can be confusing to know where to begin. Don’t worry friends, we got you!
This post shares 3 Common Manifestation Myths and What to do Instead
Manifestation is a huge buzzword right now, and I get it, I’m a big manifestation woo-woo girlie. The issue isn’t that people are talking about manifestation, it’s that they’re talking about it incorrectly. Let’s be real, manifestation is seriously misunderstood.
Let’s dive into it!
Is Manifestation Real?
The number one question that might be on your mind right now! is whether manifestation is real? … I’m here to tell you that yes, manifestation is absolutely real. By definition manifestation or manifest means the physical creation of something or someone, it’s something we can see and feel. With that definition, anything we encounter is a manifestation. Manifestation can be defined by science or perceived as a metaphysical concept.
If we lean into the metaphysical concept of manifestation then we can define it as a process that allows us to make our biggest dreams a reality. It means that if we can dream it, we can create it. For my practical folks, I like to compare manifestation to goal mapping.
We are simply;
- Setting a goal (crafting the vision).
- Identifying and planning for risks (smashing limiting beliefs).
- Creating a workback plan (aligned action).
- Pivoting where needed (surrender).
I like explaining manifestation this way because it demystifies the concept.
3 Common Manifestation Myths
Okay, so you’re on board for the whole manifestation thing. You’ve spent hours pulling picture-perfect Pinterest pins, building a collage of your dream life. Every morning you carve out 10 minutes in your routine to stare at your vision board and visualize the manifestations coming true. Hell, you’ve even made your vision board the wallpaper on your phone!
…but nothing is happening. When it comes to your manifestations it’s all crickets. You feel stuck and you don’t know why your vision board or the 5-5-5 method you learned about on YouTube aren’t working. Well, my friend, you’ve probably fallen for these three myths.
Let’s break it down and get you on the right path:
Myth one: All You Need is a Vision Board
Vision boards are BIG, we all saw those cute vision board parties popping off around New Year’s Eve. And while I love a good vision board, we have been sold the lie that all we have to do is make this pretty collage, interact with the board daily, and the goals with magically manifest! but here’s the problem sis: you are setting your vision with no follow-through!
Yes, your vision board is so important, but it’s only the first step. What you’re missing is the aligned action, and we’ll get into that in the tips below.
Myth two: You Need to Follow a Specific Blueprint
Stop following the actions of some online spiritual guru and ignoring your own intuition. You are on your own unique path, trust your instincts and stop searching for answers from outside sources when you already have the answer inside. You can of course follow someone else’s blueprint and see success to an extent but you’ve got to integrate your own intuition and your own unique methods.
When it comes down to it, everyone is teaching the exact same core principles of manifestation, so why does it work for some and not others? It’s because some people have learned to incorporate their intuition and personalize the steps to what works best for them.
Myth three: You Can Only Manifest One Way
Here’s the thing; you can map out a plan but the universe has a plan of its own. You might think that everything needs to manifest exactly as you’ve planned it, but there are hundreds of other directions you can take.
If you planned a road trip but then Google Maps told you there was a better route, would you listen to Google Maps? probably! Listen to the universe, and get out of your own way. Manipulating and controlling the process only blocks potential opportunities.
What To Do Instead:
Okay, so you’ve been doing everything wrong, that’s all right! There’s always a solution, instead of following those manifestation myths here’s what you should do instead.
Tip One: Create an Aligned Action Plan!
Aligned action is where you take the actual steps needed in order to bring your vision to life, it’s where you “put in the work!”. The Key is that you’re not just taking any action, you’re taking aligned action. This means you’re in alignment with the version of you who has already received the manifestation. You are taking action from a place of confidence and knowing that your manifestations are already yours.
Ask yourself these questions “What can I do to achieve this manifestation?”, “what action would the version of me who already received the manifestation take?”, “if I knew that I would succeed, what would I do?” and then take those steps.
Tip Two: Integrate and Listen to Your Intuition
I know I know, aligned action seems a little scary, but you already got the answers, babe! Trust your intuition and instincts. You can tap into your intuition in small ways like meditation or journalling, or by making little decisions throughout the day. Get an inkling that you should work from a coffee shop? actually do it and see what happens, taking action on your intuition will build trust over time.
If you want to personalize the manifestation process to make it more effective for you try looking into your astrology and human design. If you’re trying to manifest love, career or happy family life look as how those areas show up in your astrological chart. If you want to know what your working style is or how to work with your intuition look at your human design chart to see what methods work best for you. These are fun and highly effective ways to personalize the traditional manifestation process.
Tip Three: Surrender!
Learning to surrender is going to remove friction from the process and create more ease. Your action plan is there as a general guide, but if it stops working along the way you have to surrender, take a deep breath, and follow your intuition to the next right action. Listen to the universe and trust the process.
