If you’re on Pinterest or TikTok then you absolutely know about the Productive Girl Aesthetic. Even though this trend is kind of problematic (hello capitalism), I’m an organization girlie at heart and can’t help but appreciate the vibes.
Come get your life together with me at Walmart for $40!
What is the Productive Girl Aesthetic?
The Productive Girl Aesthetic, otherwise known as “that girl” is a trend circling the internet. It’s all about journaling, having a productive routine, eating healthy, and generally being organized. This trend has mostly been showing up in vlogs and blogger content. All things I am living for however it’s a trend that is setting unrealistic standards.
The trend is known for being a slippery slope into neoliberalism ideology and can also be a pricey lifestyle to maintain. Personal growth content can make it seem like if we do one yoga class we’ll suddenly be rich or that our growth journey should involve pretty yoga sets and ceramic mugs.
The truth is, our personal growth doesn’t always look aesthetically pleasing and we’re not always going to be living these picture-perfect experiences. Our growth is actually a long and messy process and we’re bound to have days where we’re not feeling motivated or productive. Don’t let this trend fool you into thinking you have to be on 24/7, real personal growth is about building habits and tools to support you even during your low moments.
Ways to Achieve the Productive Girl Aesthetic
If you’re anything like me you still love a good office supply and find value in using them for your productivity. I think we can definitely use the productive girl aesthetic for inspiration and find some value within this trend. The personal growth space has actually changed my life and as much as it can be problematic there is immense value in some of its underlying key messages.
Here are a few ways you can achieve the productive girl aesthetic:
- Color coding your agenda with highlighters, colored pens, or sticky notes.
- Creating a beautiful notion database for your personal growth journey.
- Keeping a binder with all your personal growth notes, calendars, etc.
- Using weekly planner sheets.
Productive Girl Aesthetic Walmart Haul
$5.98 Colored felt tip pens
I saw this pretty pack of pens that sort of matches the brand colors of my blog, perfect for taking notes.
$6.00 Mini notepad
I loved these! I thought the “more of this” and “less of that” would be great for writing myself daily reminders and affirmations.
$10.23 Daily planner notepad
Now… I do have an agenda, and I have a weekly planner notepad, but I couldn’t resist getting a daily planner. I love this because there are no dates on them so they can be used whenever. Sometimes a notepad is a lot easier to bring around than a planner if you’re working remotely.
$7.26 Colorful sticky notes
These are just great for color-coding your binder notes or creating a goal grid on your office wall.
$1.77 Lavender binder
Because my worksheets and notes deserve to be housed in something pretty!
$0.99 x2 Sheet protectors
I got these sheet protectors because they prevent your papers from fading or getting dirty as quickly, and they just look *chef’s kiss* in a binder.
Total = $33.22 or $37.54 after taxes
I used my binder to display my 2023 vision board as well as worksheets that I’ve downloaded from various personal development and business courses that I’ve taken as well as freebies from coaches and creators.
I know the Productive Girl Aesthetic is not without its fault, but I am living my Ashley Olsen in a New York Minute fantasy and I am here for it!
