It’s not a hot take that journaling is a great tool when it comes to personal growth. There are a multitude of different ways you can do it. Starting a gratitude journal may be just the thing your routine needs!
This post is answering the question “What is a Gratitude Journal?”
What is Gratitude?
Gratitude is both an emotion and a practice! and really, it’s a way of life. Gratitude is more than just writing down what you’re grateful for. True gratitude is being able to reach for it no matter the circumstance and to know that your practice is supporting you. When you can use gratitude as a tool to raise your emotional vibration you know you’re using it right.
What is a Gratitude Journal?
Think of your gratitude journal as your own personal hype girl and support system. It’s a place where you can write down every time you choose to see gratitude in a situation. You can also make daily gratitude lists. Your journal will be there for you to reflect back on any time you’re having a low moment.
The Benefits of a Gratitude Journal
Keeping a gratitude journal has a multitude of benefits. If you haven’t been convinced yet, this list will help you get there.
- Increased Optimism: Gratitude expands our minds around what’s possible and increases our optimism around receiving more. The more we practice gratitude the more optimistic our view on life will become because we are actively shifting our mindset.
- Clarity: When we’re not in a state of gratitude we’re likely in a state of fear, anger, jealousy, or insecurity. These emotions take up a lot of our brain’s capacity, when we’re in a state of gratitude we clear up space in our brain and create clarity. Gratitude can help us with decision-making.
- Stronger Relationships: Gratitude (appreciation) is often one of the first things to slip in any relationship. When you bring gratitude back to our relationships we’re showing our loved ones that they’re important to us. The more you practice gratitude in your relationships the stronger they will become because what we appreciate expands.
- Healed jealousy/comparison: When you’re feeling jealous or comparing yourself to someone else, that is your brain signaling a desire to you. Instead of stewing in our jealousy, we can choose to be grateful for it. Thank you jealousy for showing up and telling me that this is a desire of mine! You can also reach for more gratitude by knowing that what’s possible for others is proof that it’s possible for you as well.
